In Swedish, the word lagom means "just the right amount" or "in balance." This phrase really speaks to me and continues to inspire me. Moving away from an American lifestyle of constant consumption and transitioning to a Swedish way of living “lagom” has allowed me to more fully understand what it means to live simply and be fulfilled. Even as a student I've had to learn how to slow down and fully appreciate the moment with "just the wright amount" of work and play.
I started this website to share some of my favorite recipes, sustainability tips+tricks, interesting reads and my thoughts about food waste. I believe that food waste mitigation strategies are important because individuals, as well as industries, are able to save money and resources. I also love this topic because everyone interacts with food on a daily basis – we all gotta eat! Even if you can't install solar panels on your roof or use public transportation you can make a difference every day with your food choices, such as by eating “lagom.”
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any thoughts/comments/suggestions and I hope you enjoy my journey in learning more about food waste mitigation!
